Class Overview
Underglazing your own ceramic is a relaxing class where all you do is arrive, paint underglaze onto the provided bisqueware (pre-made item), in any pattern that you would like.
You are welcome to bring your own design to paint onto, just some inspiration or wing it. It’s your choice.
This class is in Port Elizabeth at my studio based in Mill Park.
Materials & Tools Provided by Cara Craft
I will supply the bisqueware, underglaze and the paint brushes to apply it.
Pencils to draw the rough design onto the pot before painting.
I will also apply the transparent glaze onto your finished work so that it is ready to fire in the kiln and comes out with a glossy finish.
No Skill Level Required
This class is intended for people of all experience and skill levels.
What to bring
An Apron
It is advised to bring an apron in case you do happen to spill or splash some glaze, that it does not land on your clothes.
If glaze does happen to get onto your clothes or skin, it does easily wash out with water. It does, however, include pigment so please do not wear white.
A Design or Inspiration
You are welcome to wing it but it is ideal if you bring your own design or just some inspiration to help get your creative juices flowing!
Inspiration can be literally anything that inspires you. A magazine clipping, line drawing, photo of something similar you’d like to paint onto your pot. Even an inspirational quote.
